No more oils but acrylics with mixed media and almost always collage collage collage.  Southwest themes became urban landscapes.  I use  as many of my  own photographs as possible and combine them with found images and collected elements. Referential paintings are rare for me now – the medium and texture find my direction.
Actually, I’ve had the experience that some of my canvases seem to complete themselves (e.g., Remembrancemy tribute to 9/11 and Confluencemy tribute to Katrina were both completed prior to the events; and, Final Destinationmy tribute to the crew of the space shuttle Columbia).
Lately, I use a palette knife, my hands and some brushwork to create grounds for my work, going into it with mixed media (including transparency film).  When I play in my studio, I stay keenly aware of my connection to nature,  the spirit and mankind’s  impact on the environment (Rural Once l, ll, lll).
